Family Optometry

family optometryEye care is an essential part of health care for all members of your family. Regardless of age, you and each of your family members should have an eye exam yearly. Comprehensive family optometry eye exams check for more than 20/20 vision. During an eye exam at Fitchburg, MA-based Community Health Connections, our optometrists check for eye diseases, some of which have no symptoms but can be vision or life threatening. Lots of systemic diseases manifest in the eyes. The eyes have a network of nerves and blood vessels so we can sometimes detect neurological and cardiovascular conditions during an eye exam.

At Community Health Connections our family optometry services include:

  • Complete eye exams
  • Affordable eyeglasses and contact lens services
  • Diabetic screenings
  • Emergency eye care

Eye examinations for your entire family through our Fitchburg, Massachusetts family optometry service helps identify eye health issues and concerns before they become severe. If you or one of your loved ones has any form of eye disease, starting the process of treatment and care early is beneficial because we can often treat the problem more effectively to prevent it from affecting the patient’s eyesight, possibly permanently. This is especially true for children as eye problems can permanently and negatively impact the developing visual system if they are not properly addressed. Our optometrists are experienced with pediatric care and can run a variety of tests on younger children to ensure their eyes are healthy.

Our family optometry specialists for Fitchburg, Massachusetts recommend that a child should have their eyes checked at six months of age if there is a family history of poor vision and by age 3 if there is a negative family history. Eye exams at least yearly after the initial assessment are recommended. Children’s eyes and the optical pathway to the brain grow quickly. Vision development in children is in the critical stage until the age of 9 years old and our family eye care experts can prevent a lot of eye problems by performing annual checkups with your children.

If it’s been a while since you or your family members have had an eye exam, we urge you to contact us today to schedule an appointment with one of our Fitchburg, Massachusetts family optometry professionals.
